Ever since the eating of the forbidden fruit man has been hypnotized by the willy serpent’s lie giving him a false sense of identity. For the sake of clarity and reference lets take a look at what the willy serpent told Adam:
Gen 3:5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
There you have it if you ever wondered where this whole idea about man being a god came from along with the idea that man is immortal and has free will. There are countless religion believing and promoting the concept of man being a god. Some will even use the Bible as a reference to prove this point for example:
Joh 10:34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
Well that sure sounds like what it said and there is no argument about it. Jesus said we are gods!! Oh did I forgot to tell you to read the rest of the content?
Joh 10:35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;
Joh 10:36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?
“Ye are gods? or “Ye are Gods”? In order words is it saying man is a god or that man belongs to God, that we are His, His creation? See the Pharisees were insulted because Jesus was claiming to be the Son of God yet they believed they were the children of God according to the Psalms. So could Jesus be calling man a god when he himself was claiming to be just the Son of God. Was man than who needed saving a god while Jesus who came to save him was just the Son. Can the Son save the gods?
I don’t think sooo.
See Jesus was telling them that the Scripture which they adhered to told them they were the children of God, the Sons of God, and they understood this. But they were a hypocritic venomous, egotistic group of vipers puffed up with hot air. Jesus on the other hand never went to school and came from a very impoverish town call Nazareth. He was contending with the learned men of his time schooled in the law and the Scriptures and they were insulted by Jesus claims. So when Jesus claimed to be the Son of God that really rocked their puny world in their puny heads.
Its like challenging and questioning an Attorney on his grounds and showing him you know the law. It’s like a bee’s sting in the eye, ouccch! Its’s like asking the Judge or Magistrate “can you prove you have jurisdiction over me”? I can almost guaranty they will carry you away. Anyway I think you get the picture.
So Jesus insulted their ego and they eventually executed him for this. What about you? Is your ego getting insulted that I am telling you, you are not a god, an immortal being and that free will is just an illusion, wool over your eyes the devil has cleverly thrown on your face.
